========== WRITTEN TEST ==========

"Are you sure this is the place?" The large furfrou asked as he glanced the the smaller and younger mon beside him. She gave a small nod, eyes looking at the large building in front of them before back to the note held in her paws. Luckily they'd learned quickly that this restaurant was well known and they'd been pointed in the right direction. Even so being faced with this ' Café Obscurité' was daunting.

"If they expect us to pay for any food here they're crazy. They won't, right Connor?" The braixen muttered before letting out a soft sigh. She hated the fact they were dirt poor at the moment, it was unfamiliar to her and to be honest, extremely unpleasant.

"Considering they told us to come here they probably won't ask for us to pay, Aimi. If they do we'll simply avoid getting any food and get the conversation over with as quickly as possible." Her larger companion pointed out before the two of then walked inside.

As quickly as they stepped in they were greeted with a Pokemon at the front desk who seemed to be expecting them. Without argument the two followed him to a table located in one of the darker corners of the already-dim establishment. Both of them brought their attention to the one already seated. a Sly, smiling Furret with a blue newsboy cap, probably the Hunters representative they assumed.

"Hey, pull up a seat. Order your favorites; this one's on the guild's checkbook," he says in greeting, motioning with a quick wave.

The two took their offered seats, Aimi looking around at their surroundings and unable to hide the bit of uneasiness she felt at the current situation. Connor on the other paw, seemed unphased, looking directly at the furret before his attention was shifted onto the Empoleon waiter who came over to their table to pass out fancy looking menus. One peek at the contents proved just how right they were to assume prices would be high for any food.

At least they knew now they weren't paying. Thankfully.

"The usual," the Normal-type comments with disregard, gently pushing the menu back against the Empoleon's chest. The waiter merely rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the two other mons, waiting expectantly for them to order.

Aimi's eyes skimmed over everything, not knowing what many of the dishes were and greatly disappointed in the lack of her favorite dishes. Her eyes moved to look at Connor who was even more frustrated with the menu. Both of them had already learned meat wasn't allowed in the city. Something that was an issue for them both but more so for the large Furfrou.

After a moment to think both decided to test out dishes that included the meat substitute they'd heard about. Hopefully they'd be decent. If anyone could make a mushroom taste like dishes they enjoyed, it'd be a place that cost so much to go to.

Once he had everyone's orders, the waiter shot one last annoyed glance at the furret, who appeared unfazed, before walking off. "No sense of humor," the Furret remarks with a shrug, before lazily slumping back in his seat. His gaze didn't settle on anyone in particular, as though he was simply staring off somewhere.

"The name's Cuffin, but I'm sure you've already heard of me. No need for introductions on your part, I already know who ya are," Cuffin says with another sly smirk, tapping his paws together. That comment got a glare for a response from Connor, though the large mon quickly rid himself of the look. Best not be bothered by a simple comment.

"So... I work for this kid, Sundance. He made me promise to ask ya a few things before I go off on my own thing. He'll get his feathers in a bunch if I don't, so humor me. First things first: why do you wanna join the Hunters?" The last question was accompanied by a roll of the eyes and a dramatic recitation, as if driving home the fact that he's being forced to ask this.

"We're new to this city. My name's Aimi, and this is Connor" Aimi stated. Quite suprisingly once she started speaking her nervousness seemed to vanish. Or maybe now that she had something to focus on it was easier to hide. "We arrived mere hours before your statue came to life and started destroying everything. Our plan had been to look for work to acquire money since we require food and shelter for not only ourselves but two younger traveling companions of ours." As she spoke her paws remained on her lap, her pose and formality when speaking hinted she had either been taught or learned some manner of speaking skills.

At the very least, Cuffin looked interested as he listened. Perhaps it wasn't the question itself he's so annoyed about. "All right. Respectable, yeah. Down the list..." The scruffy Furret reached for a parchment already settled upon the table. Rather than hold it up to read, he crumpled it in his paws rather rudely, then promptly tossed it over his shoulder. "What can you bring to the Hunters? What skills or talents can you utilize for us?" Once again, his recitation of the question is somewhat mocking.

Aimi was silent for a moment, thinking her answer through carefully. "I have a decent amount of skill when it comes to speaking and personal interaction with others. While I'm not much of a fighter I've spent much of my life reading and have acquired decent knowledge and a variety of useful fields. Some of it might not be applicable for this city, but I'm also a fast learner and will be able to come to understand the customs of this place quickly. So once I learn a little more about this place I can help keep things civil if chaos rises up again." She explained, hoping this explanation would be enough for him.

Connor gave a small nod as he listened to the Braixen, impressed with her choice of words. Once she was finished his gaze returned to the Furret, eyes sharp. "While my diplomatic skills aren't up to my companions level I have years worth of experience in the fields of combat, tactics and stealth. I guess you could say Aimi here is the brains and I'm the brawns."

"Yeah, yeah, I gotcha. I guess we'll get to see some of that soon enough. Don't get me wrong; your answer don't mean you're gonna be taken or thrown out. This is basically... formalities..." Cuffin paused, tilting his head upward thoughtfully. "...Yeah, formalities. I think that's the word he used. Whatever that means."

A grin came over the Furret's fuzzy face as he readied himself for his next question, lowering the register of his voice. "This one's more interestin', to the little guy's credit. Are you against doin' things that the Royal Guard ain't gonna like if they catch ya doin' em?"

The two looked at each other in surprise at the rather, unexpected question. The look on Aimi's face gave Connor the information he needed though. She didn't know what to say. With a small nod he took the reigns of the conversation, bringing his attention back to Cuffin.

"We have no real connection to this city, so we have no loyalty to this 'Royal Guard'. To be completely honest this is the first I'm hearing of it. I'm used to doing what has to be done, even if there are risks. Besides, do you really expect us to be sloppy enough to be caught doing something we shouldn't?" His question was spoken softer then what came before, accompanied by a sharp glare.

The Normal-type's pointed ears twitched at the reply. "It ain't me, just sayin'. I know well enough that if yer here, then you an' I are prolly already aware of the answer to that question. I just needed somethin' to tell the kid." With a sigh of relief, Cuffin tossed his hands in the air, then at the sides of the chair dramatically. "Whew. All right, enough of that stuff. The kid is on the right track, but sometimes it seems like the royals crammed a stick really far up there, if ya know what I mean. All these "formalities" and junk... anyway, the rest is straight from me."

He looks left, then right... but given the way his bright eyes were never quite focusing on the duo in front of him, this seemed to be one of those "formalities" of his own. He then begun to explain in an oddly sincere fashion, "You already know the basic stuff, so I'm gonna level with ya. Truth is, the Hunters are all about knowin' things about everybody else. Yer gonna learn secrets that nobody else will know. It'll change the way you look at this whole city, and yer prolly not gonna like what you see, but you'll always know exactly what's goin' on under the coat of sugar. I wouldn't blame ya if you'd rather go hang with a Guild that doesn't deal in the worst of what Andalusst can offer."

The furfrou gave a short chuckle at the information he'd just gained, a small smirk coming to his face. "Well then, I'll level with you. I want to know as much about this place as possible. The more details the better so if that's what I get signing up to the Hunters that's more of an encouragement then anything else." No, that wasn't true, he needed to know everything. He needed to know when new comers came, he needed to know if certain mons showed up immediately. So if needed he could bare his fangs first and take out any threat.

"Like I said, we have no connection here or loyalties at the moment. I'd rather see what this place is from the start then see the lie they feed to most citizens first."  He said, eyes studying the pokemon in front of him closely as he spoke.

Cuffin's non-serious demeanor returned with a smirk of his own at the response. "Is that so? Well... to be honest, I would've blamed ya, actually," he joked with a lightly teasing tone. "Who doesn't wanna know everything about everybody? Life is all about keepin' yer options as open as possible 'til the right moment."

Just then, the waiter came back into earshot, flippers laden with everyone's orders. As he hesitated with the platter containing Cuffin's meal, one couldn't help but wonder if he's contemplating on spitting in it. The Furret didn't appear to be looking at him anyway, though the two others at the table were beginning to suspect that the furret couldn't even if he wanted to. The silver platters were placed on the table with mild clatter, but Cuffin faced the duo again before paying them any mind.

"Before we eat..." he interrupted, reaching down and palming the nearest glass. He held it up and forward across the table. "Let's toast, to the new recruits," Cuffin proposes, though he leaned in and added with a whisper, "...That's you, just so ya know."

Connor just gave a nod, after all he couldn't be expected to hold a glass with one of his huge paws. A smile came to Aimi's face though as she heard the news, looking at each mon in turn before reaching to grab a glass herself. "Thank you. We'll work hard for you, we promise."
Alright, I finally got off my lazy butt and did this for one of my two teams. While they are going to be mostly an art team, if I ever feel I need a change I wanted this done so my content would be counted for rewards. My writting isn't all that good, and my spelling is worse. If you see any errors please let me know.
